SPRING 2022 SEASON
Thank you for volunteering to be a manager or coach for this season. Below is a summary of key information for managers and coaches:
- GAME SCHEDULE - The regular season game schedule link is HERE. Please note that the parents will receive an email 24 hours before a game to remind them of the game.
- PRACTICE SCHEDULE - The practice schedule is HERE. Please contact your Division Director for questions. Also, please always notify your Division Director if you won't be using a practice field for your scheduled time so another team can use it or we can not get charged for using it.
- FIELD CARE - All of our fields should be treated with care. We are fortunate that we have a full time groundskeeper at Lupin but we do need to perform the following by field:
- Lupin (All Fields) - Please always lock the equipment sheds behind home plate after the last practice. Also, no hitting of baseballs before 9AM and that includes the batting cages. You must warm up with wiffle balls or similar. Lastly, please remove the trash from the dugout and field after your game / practice.
- Lupin (Pony) - Please put the bases away before any school days (normally the last practice on Sunday to Thursday)
- Lupin (Batting Cages) - Players cannot ever wear metal spikes in the cages as it will destroy the artificial turf. Please have then wear tennis shoes.
- Grape Arbor Park - Please always lock the equipment shed when done. The bases can stay on the field between practices. This field does not need to be dragged.
- Forest Cove Park - Please always lock the equipment shed when done and put the portable mound, bases and pitching machine in it. The bases must be put away in the shed after the last practice of a day (and put the base plugs on the stems). This field needs to be dragged between practices or the infield will become very uneven and dangerous.
- Sumac Elementary School - Please always lock the equipment shed when done and put the portable pitching mound and pitching machine in it. The bases can stay on the field between practices but if they ever do need to be put away then put the base plugs on the stems. This field needs to be dragged between practices or the infield will become very uneven and dangerous.
- Willow Elementary School - Please always lock the equipment shed when done and put pitching machine in it. You can leave the portable bases on the field. This field needs to be dragged between practices or the infield will become very uneven and dangerous.
- Indian Springs Park - Please always lock the equipment shed when done and put the bases in it after the last practice of a day (and put the base plugs on the stems). This field needs to be dragged between practices or the infield will become very uneven and dangerous.
- Old Agoura Park - Please always lock the equipment shed when done and put the bases in it after the last practice of a day (and put the base plugs on the stems). This field needs to be dragged between practices or the infield will become very uneven and dangerous.
- LEAGUE CALENDAR - The league calendar for events is listed HERE. This includes many events such as Opening Day, Picture Day(s), etc.
- RULES - The rules are located HERE. They are for:
- APB Rules - Shetland to Pony
- CVIL (Conejo Valley Interleague) Rules - Shetland American, Pinto American, Mustang American, Bronco American, Pony American and Pony National
- For divisions where there are both CVIL and APB Rules the CVIL rules supersede the APB rules.
- FIELD CLOSURES - Please always look at the website as it is up to date. Please do not contact your Division Director for field closure updates for weather as the website will be where they get their information.
- PARKING AT LUPIN - Please do not ever park on the red curbs as LVUSD will tow your cars. You can park diagonally on the white pickup and drop-off curbs on the weekends only. Please do not park in the Umpire parking or your car will be towed.
- PETS AT LUPIN / SUMAC / WILLOW - Pets are not allowed unless they are service dogs approved by LVUSD. A person cannot just show up with a service dog without contacting LVUSD first. We will ask them to leave so please inform your team parents.
- GAME CAMERAS - The Lupin game cameras are on from 8:30AM to 8PM on weekends and 3:30PM to 8PM on weekdays. The link for them are HERE.
- TEAM SPONSORSHIP - Each team is required to have a team sponsor (business or shared upon all parents). This pays for upgrade projects at Lupin. The funds are due prior to the distribution of the uniforms (but they do not pay for the uniforms). More info is HERE.
- PRACTICE PLANS - The league has developed specific practice plans for each division. They are sequenced with what skills should be taught in what order. They are stored HERE.
- MEDICAL RELEASE FORM - Each manager is required to have the parents of their players populate and sign the Medical Release form. This is required so we know who and where to call if a player experiences a medical emergency and the parents is not at the location of the player. The form is stored HERE.
- VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION / BACKGROUND CHECKS - PONY National and the State of California require that all volunteer managers and coaches be registered on the league website. Please register online. Once logged in to your account you can do it via the "Volunteer" button/link. As related the league will perform a yearly background check which is ran based on the information entered during volunteer registration.
- REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS - The State of California requires that all youth coaches take both the Concussion Awareness and Sudden Cardiac Arrest courses online and email the certificates to our league. You will only need to take these once and not every year. The league retains a record of past certifications.
- COACH'S SOFTBALL GAME - We usually hold two coach's softball games at Lupin on Sunday's during the season. They are listed on the League Schedule. Coaches can participate and their families can attend and the snack shack will be open.
- WEEKLY COMMUNICATION - The league strongly suggests that each manager sends a weekly email on late Sunday / early Monday that recaps the week and lists the events for the next week.
